2015 AMGA Scholarships Awarded

Kelly-Coons-photo-150x150The Aiken Master Gardener Association recently awarded two scholarships of $1000 each to seniors at two local high schools. Kelly Coons was presented the award by Liz Benton at the recent Aiken High School FFA Banquet. Kelly plans to attend Piedmont Technical College in the fall and then transfer to Clemson where she will major in Agriculture Education. Kelly, who has served as President of the Aiken High FFA, is running for the office of State FFA President. She would like to become an agricultural education teacher. Leigh Northrop was the second recipient of an AMGA Scholarship. She received her award from Al Bey at the Strom Thurmond FFA Banquet. Leigh served as President of the Strom Thurmond FFA. She will be attending Aiken Technical College for one year, and then she plans to transfer to Clemson. Leigh hopes to obtain a degree in Agricultural Communications, and she would like to work for the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.
