Master Gardeners are available in the County Extension office each day, Monday through Friday from 8:30 A.M. until noon to answer phone in questions from the public. Aiken County residents may also bring in items to be identified or researched. Master Gardener Office Phone 803-649-6297 ext.122 or Aiken County Extension Fax 803-649-6671.
Master Gardeners are also available for questions at the Aiken Farmers Market from 8:00 A.M. until noon on the first Saturday of each month from April through November, and at times otherwise indicated by announcement on our events calendar and the local newspapers and AMGA Facebook.

The Aiken Master Gardener Association is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization composed of Clemson University Extension-trained volunteers who provide Aiken County home gardeners with researched based advice and education on their lawn and garden concerns.

 

Becoming a Master Gardener / Spring 2017 Class Registration Now Openbutton-smaller

The Aiken Master Gardener association is looking for new volunteers who want to share their knowledge of gardening with others. To become a certified master gardener in South Carolina you need to successfully complete 40 hours of instruction in the Clemson Master Gardener course, and an additional 40 hours of volunteer service.

The cost for the Clemson Master Gardener Course is $300, but certified interns (i.e. passing class graduates) are eligible to apply for a $100 rebate from the Aiken Master Gardener Association. The rebate will be available one year after SC Master Gardener Certification requirements are met provided the applicant has performed a minimum of 20 hours of educational service and 10 hours of continuing education during that year.

The Ninth Edition of Master Gardener Almanac for Aiken and Vicinity is Now Available

The ninth edition of Master Gardener Almanac for Aiken and Vicinity is now available  and will sell for $15 to the public. It will be sold at the Aiken County Agriculture Building at 1550 Richland Avenue, East in suite 500.  It will also be sold at the Farmers Market at Richland and Williamsburg Streets on the first Saturday of each month when the Master Gardeners are present.  The almanac is also available at the monthly Lunchbox Lecture Series at Trinity United Methodist Church (3rd Monday of the month, Jan-Oct).

The new almanac has been completely revised and increased in size to 104 pages.
