Becoming a Master Gardener

The Aiken Master Gardener association is looking for new volunteers who want to share their knowledge of gardening with others. To become a certified master gardener in South Carolina you need to successfully complete 40 hours of instruction in the Clemson Master Gardener course, and an additional 40 hours of volunteer service.

The next class will be held this year, starting July 6, 2016, through October 5, 2016.  Classes are held once a week for 4 hours at the Aiken County Extension Office, 1555 Richland Ave., East, Aiken, SC. The cost is $300, but students are eligible to receive a $100 rebate from the Aiken Master Gardener Association, after completion of an additional 20 hours of volunteer service following certification.

Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Clemson Coordinator, Vicky Bertagnolli, at vbertag@clemson.edu, or call the Master Gardener office at 803-649-6297, ext. 122. To register for this course, go to: Register Online, on this page.  Registration closes on June 29, 2016.
